Ted was responsible for managing a consultant team completing a study to identify multimodal improvements on a 4-mile suburban corridor. The project included a thorough analysis of existing bicyclist/pedestrian safety and access on the corridor, on-street parking utilization, and connectivity to East Colfax Avenue, two blocks to the north. There are 11 schools within the project area so a guiding element of the alternatives development and evaluation was how walking and biking access for students and their families could be improved. Michael Baker supported the completion of a 15 percent concept design for the corridor that included a new shared-use path, widened sidewalks, raised intersections, curb extensions / bulb outs, and new mid-block crossings, and. Following the study, Ted supported the City on completion of a successful DRCOG TIP grant application for $900K that is funding 60 percent design on the majority of the corridor and 100 percent design for a designated, priority mile.
